E. A. Draffan and Abi James of MOOCAP partner University of Southampton have put together a special thematic session at AAATE 2017 (Sheffield, UK, 13-14 September 2017): Digital Accessibility for an Information Society:
The growth of the internet and World Wide Web has led to the digitisation of most aspects of life from support networks, public services, education, work and even aspects of leisure time. This has presented both opportunities and barriers to some disabled members of society. However, effective digital accessibility and accessible design can enable successful use of the increasing range of connected devices and participation with online services and digital resources. This session will explore ideas around innovation and service provision to improve:
- accessibility of e-text and ebook resources
- the design of digitally controlled and online, connected devices
- accessible information provision by education, workplace and public service providers
- access for elderly and those with cognitive impairments
- awareness and understanding of digital accessibility in support services, education providers and the design and technology professions
Papers can be submitted until the 10th of February 2017.
