You can also find a <a href=\"https:\/\/remexlabs.github.io\/gtx-hdm1-2ax\/\">single-page version of the content<\/a> (without quizzes) on GitHub.io.<\/p>\n<h2>Course Duration and Effort<\/h2>\n<p>Duration &amp; estimated effort per week: four weeks, 3 hours per week.<\/p>\n<p>The course has been available as a self-paced course on edX since December 2017.<\/p>\n<h2>Short Description<\/h2>\n<p>In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;User interface personalisation&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The process of adapting user interfaces to the specific users, at development time or at runtime. Such adaptations accommodate some aspects of use context, including the user&rsquo;s personal preferences and needs (e.g. due to disability), the device(s) and assistive technologies being used as part of the runtime platform, and the concrete situation of use (location properties such as ambient light and noise).&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/moocap.gpii.de\/?glossary=user-interface-personalisation\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>user interface personalisation<\/a> in the context of web sites and web applications. You will learn how user interface personalisation can be used to adapt web pages to a diversity of needs, especially the needs of people with disabilities. The course will explain the difference between adaptable and adaptive user interfaces, and why adaptable user interfaces have been only moderately successful.<\/p>\n<p>You will get an introduction to the <a href=\"http:\/\/gpii.net\/About.html\">Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure (<abbr>GPII<\/abbr>)<\/a> framework and its infrastructure of automatically adapting a user interface to a user&#x2019;s needs and preferences.
