Providing text alternatives for images is such a basic <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Accessibility&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The extent to which a product (including software, websites and documents) or service can be used by everyone, regardless of disabilities.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/moocap.gpii.de\/?glossary=accessibility\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>accessibility<\/a> requirement that the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (<abbr>WCAG<\/abbr>) 2.0 made it their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2008\/REC-WCAG20-20081211\/#text-equiv-all\">very first Success Criterion<\/a>. Today&#x2019;s new <abbr>OER<\/abbr> takes the form of a quiz with 18 questions that cover various types of images that require different types of text alternatives. It is <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B1xSmiMx9252aTFHY2JxN253N1k\/view?usp=sharing\">available on Google Drive (Microsoft Word format)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Learners and educators who want to find out more about text alternatives can refer to many other resources, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><abbr>WCAG<\/abbr>&#x2018;s support document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20\/text-equiv-all.html\">Understanding <abbr title=\"success criterion\">SC<\/abbr> 1.1.1<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><abbr>WCAG<\/abbr>&#x2018;s support document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/WAI\/WCAG20\/quickref\/#qr-text-equiv-all\">How to Meet <abbr title=\"success criterion\">SC<\/abbr> 1.1.1<\/a> (which lists techniques and failures),<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.w3.org\/html5\/alt-techniques\/\">HTML5: Techniques for providing useful text alternatives<\/a> (this document can still evolve).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In our series of Open Educational Resources (OERs), we are today publishing a document on text alternatives for images.
